History and Business of the Company

CELPLAS INDUSTRIES NIGERIA LIMITED was incorporated in 1990 as an indigenous, wholly Nigerian owned company, but for reasons connected with the need for the acquisition of technical expertise, the Nigerian promoters indicated their desire for foreign participation in the management and control of the business.

Celplas Industries Nigeria Ltd. Is a Multifaceted Plastic Manufacturing Company specializing in products manufactured from Injection Molding, Blow Molding, and Extrusion Molding.

We started manufacturing domestic plastic wares in February 1991, with our brands DUNCAN & THERMOLINEO, which are household names today. Now, we are by far the largest manufacturers of coolers in Africa, and number one in Nigeria for many years with a market share of 60%. Our coolers range from ½ liters to 150 liters capacity, and the manufacturing strength of Celplas is its production capacity of one million coolers per Month through our various factories located in Lagos State and Ogun State.

Today THERMOLINEO supplies its branded coolers to almost all of the multinationals making soft drinks and beer, as well as to other corporate clients in Nigeria. We manufacture Branded Coolers for First Class brands such as COCA COLA, HEINEKEN, GUINNESS, MALTA, and FEYROUZ.

Other corporate clients include NESTLE, CADBURY, THERAPEUTIC LABORATORY, LA CASERA, PEPSI, 7 UP, and FAN MILK.

Celplas has been exporting its products to various countries in the West African region for the last five years, having offices/distributors in five African countries; Cotonou Benin, Lome Togo, Ouagadougou Burkina Faso, Accra Ghana and Luanda Angola.

Insulated Coolers - Brand Name: Thermolineo

Thermolineo branded coolers are the number one cooler manufacturers in Africa, with a capacity for over one million coolers per month, making the Company the single largest manufacturer of coolers in Africa. Our market share of coolers is approx 60% in Nigeria and almost 80% in the sub region of Ecowas. The Company specializes in injection and blow-molded coolers for the local and international markets, with sizes ranging from ½ liters to 150 liters.

We specialize in corporate branding for all the major PLC’s, and we brand their coolers under their international brands such as COCA COLA, HENEIKEN, 7 UP, PEPSI, FAN MILK, GUINESS, HARP, and VIRGIN DRINKS.

Writing Instruments - Ball Pens Brand Name: Lucky

Celplas started manufacturing these LUCKY Ball Pens in 2005, and currently has a capacity of 50 million pens per annum. After the expansion this is expected to rise to 90 million pens per annum. First time in AFRICA the refill writing length of3000 Meters. The company makes eight different varieties of ball pens in four different tip sizes, mainly .7 mm and 1 mm tips, and BIC 1 mm tips. The company will be the first to start with a BIC Type .7 mm fine tip. 40% of our production is made for Corporate who use the printed pens in their advertisements with the LOGO and Corporate messages printed on the pens. 60% production is sold locally thru the distributors and Stationary shops. The Company is amongst the top three manufacturers in Nigeria with a market share of approximately 28%. To encourage local manufacturing the importation of Ball pens has been banned by the Federal Government for the last three years.

Garden Furniture - Brand Name: Thermolineo

The manufacturing of garden furniture started in the year 2003, and we have a capacity of 2.4 million chairs per annum, making us one of the top three furniture-manufacturing units in Nigeria. The company has recently received new machines and this will enhance the production and the quality of the chairs and tables. The corporate branded furniture is made for VISAFONE, MTN, PEPSI, COCA COLA and GUINNESS. The company is amongst the top three manufacturers in Plastic Garden Furniture with a market share of 25%. The import duty on imported Plastic Furniture is 100% hence the local industry has government patronage. The competitors are Okplast Ind, Black Horse, Altak Ind.

Packaging Material - Brand Name: Thermolineo

The multilayer extrusion machine is a specialized machine for making three layer Polyethylene film for packaging various items like cooking oil, cotton seed oil, water, mulch film, green house film, and it is also used in the construction industry for the laying of concrete flooring. The three layers of the film help in a better barrier against oxygen, and prolong the shelf life by upto six months.

Our packing material is used for all kinds of confectionary, food products, oil packaging, and even computer parts, electrical parts, shavers, blades, ball pens etc.

Our present capacity is 3600 metric tons of packaging material per annum, and Celplas is amongst the top five manufacturers in Nigeria. The future expansion of the company will increase the production level to 5400 metric tons by mid-2009 and 7200 metric tons by the end of 2009, thereby making us amongst the top three companies in packaging in Nigeria. This product has a great demand in all West African ECOWAS countries and has a very big potential for Exports.

Domestic Plastic Wares, Flasks & Housewares

Celplas makes baby bath sets, buckets, plates, basins, cups, flasks and mugs, and other daily household plastics for use in the domestic homes. These plastic products are used in practically all the households in Nigeria. We manufacture the domestic plastic under the registered brand names of DUNCAN AND THERMOLINEO.
